This Saturday, members of Wallasey Athletic Club will continue training for the fast approaching championship season, the first open championship being the West Lancashire novice team race which is to take place at West Derby on December 1st, followed by the Cheshire County Championships at Northwich on December 8th.
It is hoped that the club will be fully represented in both events and in later championships, particularly the Northern, which is this year being held from, the Oval, Port Sunlight, better known as a rendezvous for track athletes than cross-country men.
Members of the ladies section continue with light track training and cross-country runs or short distance, which are a training medium for their summer activities.
All training commences at 3 p.m. prompt from club headquarters, Leasowe Road, where new members will be made really welcome. Postal or phone enquiries re membership will be promptly dealt with by the hon. secretary, R. F. Hubbard, 39 Beech Road, Birkenhead (phone Birkenhead 3550).
Entries close this Saturday for the Wallasey Schools and Youths cross-country championships, which are to he held on Saturday next at the Leasowe Road Playing Fields, commencing at 3.15 p.m. Full details of the events will be given in next week's edition. Entries should be forwarded to the secretary as above.
