Hundreds of runners took part in the Hoylake 10k along the Wirral coastline.
The event was organised by The Wednesday Special Needs Club to raise funds for their activities. The WSNC is a volunteer-run organisation that caters to the care of special needs people. It opened the Soft Play Sensory Resource in 1995 which can be used by people of all ages with special needs. It has had a huge impact on those who use it. The facility is run entirely by volunteers, with no official funding, and the money raised by the Hoylake 10k goes towards the upkeep of the Soft Play Sensory Resource. The run started on the North Parade promenade opposite the Parade Hoylake Community Centre. Runners then continued along the front on the promenade to the Meols embankment, from there, they joined the rangers' trail and continued back on the, embankment towards Leasowe Castle Hotel. At the 5k marker, runners turned and ran back the way they came. The women's winner was Jayne Joy, while Joseph Boden won the men's race.
