Last Saturday, Wallasey A.C. were entertained to a friendly cross-country match, over a six miles course, by Chester Training College. However, a supposedly easy victory was turned into narrow defeat, due to one or two of the Wallasey’s runners not turning up.

Carl Gee Qualifies as A.A.A. Coach
Wallasey Athletic Club track and field champion Carl Gee recently passed is final A.A.A. examinations for the discus and shot events and is now the first fully qualified A.A.A. honorary senior coach in the Merseyside area. He has also been appointed a staff coach at the A.A.A. Summer School at Loughborough College next August.

Running by Wallasey Athletes – Barlow’s Fine Effort in Blackpool Relay
Although Wallasey Athletic Club failed in their bid to win the Blackpool road relay race last Saturday, theirs was indeed a glorious failure as their splendid quintet of Barlow, Wright, Woolford, Mather and Chalton battled their way through the field from 22nd position after the first leg to take third place in a field of 50 teams which included many famous club from the North and Midlands.

While most people were relaxing in the Whit weekend sunshine, Wallasey A.C. runners Ron Barlow, Brian Woolford and Kevin Mather travelled to London to represent Cheshire in an Inter-Counties Athletic Championships in which the Cheshire team succeeded in winning the Minor Counties Championship.
