Competing in a field 200 runners at Warrington today in the Chris Vose 7-mile road race, Wallasey Athletic Club will try to repeat their team victory of last year when their great long distance trio of Wright, Woolford and Barlow were carrying all before them in three-to-score distance races.

Wallasey’s Repeat Win In Sefton Park Relay
Wallasey Athletic Club won the Sefton Park Relay on Saturday for the second year in succession., They completed the 6x31/2 mile laps in a total time of 93 minutes 7 secs. against 94 minutes 27 secs. by Wirral A.C. and 97 minutes 16 secs. by Liverpool Harriers.

Wallasey Athletic Club senior team were very hard pressed by Wirral A.C. to retain their cross country championship title, at Arrowe Park last Saturday, the final margin being only three points Wallasey A.C. 51 points, Wirral A.C. 54 points with Sale Harriers third, 144 points.

First West Lancs. Championship for Wallasey since 1911
Wallasey’s senior athletes pulled off a great victory in the West Lancs Cross Country Championships over a nine mile course at Blackpool last Saturday, This is the first time Wallasey have achieved victory in this event since 1911, and congratulations must go to all team members who spared no effort to attain this result.

Fifteen year old Alan Bell, a pupil of Gorsedale School, Wallasey, is in the championship class in cross country running. He was second in the Cheshire championship race held at Stockport. Alan is a member of the Wallasey Athletic Club.

Wallasey A.C. again win Longwood 10
At Huddersfield last Saturday, Wallasey Athletic Club successfully defended their team title in the Longwood 10 when the old firm of Wright, Woolford and Barlow all finished in the first ten places to win the team race by 5 points with 20 points as compared with 25 by Clayton-le-Moors, with Middlesbrough and Cleveland in third position.

Wallasey Athletic Club’s senior team wound up their road racing season with an excellent performance in finishing in third place last Saturday in the Blackpool Memorial Road Relay, which was won by the famous Southern club Belgrave Harriers, led by English international Gerry North, Bolton U.H. were second.

Wallasey A.C. last week entertained Liverpool Pembroke, and a combined team from Port Sunlight and Wirral A.C., in a three cornered athletic match at their headquarters in Leasowe Road and ran out winners by 158 points to Sunlight’s 154 pts and Pembroke’s 44 pts.
