Wallasey Athletic Club, took part in the Sefton Road Relays at Sefton Park, Aigburth, last Saturday. Dave Lockley ran the first leg of the 6x3 miles relay in a fast time of 16 mins. 9 secs: and returned in 2nd place, 4 secs. behind the leader.

Runners' Fair day in 3rd league race
In last Saturday's third and final league race, held at Sherdley Park, Sutton, St. Helens, Wallasey Athletic Club's runners were once again led home in the senior race by Dave Lockley, who finished well in 8th place in 36 mins. 45 secs.

Some great running was seen at Leasowe last Saturday, when despite atrocious conditions, nearly 200 runners from Wallasey, Wirral, Chester and Liverpool braved the rain and windswept course that served for the inaugural cross country races for schoolgirls sponsored by Wallasey Athletic Club.

Creditable effort by athletes
Last Saturday in the Northern women's road relays at Derby, Wallasey were represented by junior and senior teams. The junior team sadly arrived at the venue only minutes before the start of the 3 x 1 mile relay and Sylvia Brimage did a grand job finishing to first lap in sixth position only 22 secs. behind the leader.

Commendable efforts by Wallasey A.C.
A team of eight Wallasey athletes travelled to Hartford last weekend for the Women's Cheshire AAA. Championships. Although the rain held off for most of the afternoon, it was cold and bleak and a strong headwind along the finishing straight certainly didn't improve times.
