Wallasey Athletic Club athletes had a quiet time last weekend but will be going into action again today at Port Sunlight, when several trophies will be competed for by all the Merseyside athletic clubs.
These are the Lever Trophy for seniors, the Sunlight Cup for juniors and the Centurion Trophy for women, all of which are team prizes, awarded for the highest aggregate of points obtained at the meeting. Wallasey's best prospects
would seem to be Roy Parry in the junior half or mile and Len Platt in the long and high jumps and 100 yards sprint.
Although Len should certainly win the long jump, he will be hard pushed in the sprint by Brennan of Stockport and in the high jump by Brian Freeman of Liverpool Harriers.,
Members are asked to note that the club Pentathlon Championship has been put forward to Saturday, August 22.
Tickets are now available for the Club's dance to be held at the Tower Ballroom on Friday, August 21, and can be obtained from any club member or Ron Hubbard, 44 Tollemache Street, New Brighton.
