The usual four Wallasey teams entered the West Lancashire championships last Saturday. The course was mainly grass, and although the going was a bit muddy it was a fine day and everyone taking part enjoyed themselves.
The boys ran 2 miles and finished fifth as a team, whilst in the youths' three-mile event Wallasey finished 7th. The juniors did well to finish fourth, but once again, the seniors ran as individuals as there were insufficient for a team.
Ron Barlow made a poor start in the boys' event, but ran well once he was out in the field to finish 7th. Ken Tunstall also ran well, finishing 12th. Tony Farrell 31st and Dave White 34th just managed to beat Eric Warden 36th, and Ray Griffiths 37th to give Wallasey's team a total of 84 points.
