In a continuous drizzle and over a very undulated course, John Lynch last Saturday proved himself to be one of Cheshire's leading marathon runners.
This was in the Wakefield 20 mile road race. John completed the course in 1 hr. 55 mins. 40 secs., to finish in 9th position.
F. Ledward was the only other Wallasey competitor, and he completed the distance in 2hrs. 24 mins. 58 secs., to finish 40th Frank over the last few years has been watching John Lynch and coaching John Lynch along in this type of racing and his long experience and knowledge has been invaluable.
Today the team is due to run in the Winnington Park 10-mile road race, and in the Liverpool City Marathon on August 11 and it is hoped that John Lynch will be to the fore.
A three cornered match between Waterloo (the hosts), Southport and Wallasey due on Monday next, constitutes a large and varied programme, incorporating most track and field events for all age groups. Team and supporters meet Exchange Station 6-30 p.m.
