Seven Wallasey Club competitors were in the Waterloo road race last Saturday and all finished the course. Over 150 runners started and ran 6¼ miles.
The winner N. Cooper, of Manchester and District Boys' Club, clocked 34 minutes 42 seconds. This was not a course record, but shows the speed at which road races of this kind are run. Second was Carrol, of Manchester Athletic Club, and third S. Rogers, of Sefton Harriers. Team placings were: 1st Sefton Harriers, 2nd Pembroke A. & C.C., 3rd Manchester Athletic Club. One Wallasey competitor collided with a small post amongst a pack of runners and was badly winded. He carried on to finish the course and is to be commended for showing such courage.
Wallasey runners comprised J. Lynch 67th, W. Farrell 77th, J. Daniels 84th, J. Ryan 102nd, R. Scammell 106th, H. Pritchard 110th and R. Hewson 111th,
To-day Wallasey travel to Waterloo to compete in the league match and will meet at 1.45 p.m. Pier Head, Liverpool. Those travelling alone should catch a bus at Skelhorne St. for Crosby terminus. All senior members must attend irrespective of other commitments. This is the race in which Wallasey can attain a good position in the league.
For youths there is the usual race, and those not attending should turn out at Leasowe Road at 3.15 p.m.
