With the track season now largely completed and with holidays in full swing there is little to report from the competitive front. However several club athletes have again competed at the Port Sunlight weekly graded meeting and two performance are worthy of mention.
These are the throw of 120 ft. 4 ins. in the discus by Carl Gee and the excellent 10.4 secs. in the short sprint by newcomer Ray Robertson.
Carl Gee has progressed considerably during this season, mainly due to improved technique in both the discus and shot and there is little doubt that he will improve still further next summer with further training during the winter months.
In this connection the club hope to arrange for gymnasium facilities on one evening a week during the winter and members will be advised as soon as facilities are available.
Ray Robertson's 10.4 at Port Sunlight follows his recent 10.3 on the same track and represents very good sprinting indeed, by this young newcomer to the club and with coaching he should be approaching even time next Summer.
The next athletic week-end camp will be held on September 12 and 13 and the opening club cross-country run will be on Saturday, September 26
