Wallasey Athletic Club today travel to Woolton to compete in the first of this seasons three Mob Runs which will be run over a two-lap course of 5¼-miles.
These Mob Runs are held each season to provide competition for Merseyside clubs in preparation for the area and national championships and with this in mind the distance for the second and third run is increased to approximately 6 and 7 miles respectively. All these runs last season were won by Wallasey but without John Wright today they may well be hard pressed to pack their first six counting runners in before, those of Pembroke and Liverpool Harriers.
However, Ron Barlow, Brian Woolford and Pete White, will, no doubt, be well up and it is to be hoped that Wallasey's supporting runners will rise to the occasion.
Changing accommodation is at St. James Church Hall, Church Road, Woolton, which can be reached by Nos. 4, 5 and 73 Corporation or H19 and H20 Crosville buses. Members are requested to meet at Liverpool Pier Head at 1-30 p.m. Next Saturday a training run will be held from club headquarters commencing 3-15 p.m. For information regarding club membership contact Matt Smith, 29 Beechwood Avenue or Bob McCaig,. 30 Taunton Road. Tel. New Brighton 1632.
