With the completion of the cross-country season excepting today's international event at San Sebastion. Wallasey A.C. runners today travel to the lake district to compete in the Windermere to Kendal road race.
This opening race is over 9½ miles and a great tussle is anticipated between Wallasey A.C. and Blackpool and Fylde and Barrow A.C.
Of the few Wallasey runners who travelled to Cambridge recently for the National Championships the most successful was Peter Meldrum, who despite not being at peak fitness ran his usual determined race to finish 44th in a field of over 700 runners who contested the youth event.
Meldrum has had his most successful season yet and as he now moves up into the junior age group he will be a most useful reinforcement for Wallasey's seniors in those races permitting the inclusion of junior runners.
Next Saturday the Wallasey team will be nearer home when they travel to St. Helens to compete in the annual Sutton 7 mile road race.
