Only two of Wallasey's athletes were engaged last Saturday in active competition.
Ron Barlow and Brian Woolford who were representing, Cheshire in a triangular contest at Middlesborough. Cheshire had a rather disappointing day in that they could muster only 3rd
place. The event was won by Lancashire with 34 points, 2nd were Northumberland and Durham 51 points and then Cheshire with 134 points. Woolford was Cheshire's first man home in 13th position and Barlow the third in 24th position. One pleasing feature about the event as far as local athletes are concerned was the forceful running of Brendan Deary, Sefton Harriers, who on his debut for the Lancashire team finished in 8th position.
The remaining club members utilised the blank date with a training run over Bidston and Noctorum. It was pleasing to see such a good turnout from all age groups in view of the nearness of the forthcoming championships.
This Saturday sees the club Christmas Handicap and a strong turnout of all members is anticipated. All who run will receive prizes.
