This weekend Wallasey A.C. hold their annual road races along New Brighton promenade. In the youths' event it is hoped that the club will repeat their individual and team win of last year.
Mel Schless, who has recently been injured, is now returning to good form and it is hoped he will be victorious this Saturday, closely followed by Steve Walker and Colin Reiners.
In the senior relay event, entries are already better than last year's. In fact, an entry has been received from Bolton A.C., who can command two of the world's leading long distance runners. He will be accompanied by Mike Freary, perhaps the greatest road relay runner in the world.
Wallasey A.C. will be hard put to hold this team, but good runs can be expected from all.
Two Wallasey teams will be selected from the following: D. Adair, L. Durkin, C. Gee, D. Hanna, J. Jones, D. Lockley, B. Knox, J. Horobin, B. Smith, K. Mather, M. Teahan, P. Wealthy.
