In the second Northern Cross-Country League meeting Wallasey Athletic Club's women's team won the senior event from Airedale and Spen Valley A.C. with Barbara Banks repeating her performance in taking the premier individual position.
The Wallasey team although not at full strength was stronger than at the last meeting with the addition of Sylvia Brimage (who was still eligible for the intermediate race in the successful team of the previous evening).
Barbara was pushed all the way by Jean Lochead (Airedale and Spen Valley A.C.) she had an inspired run finishing only 5 seconds behind Barbara who recorded 13 mins. 23 secs. for the hilly Bolton course.
Margaret recorded 14 mins. 12 secs. in finishing 2 places higher than at he last meeting. While third home for Wallasey was Janice Watts in 15 mins. 43 secs. and 18th place, a substantial improvement since the last race but still only beating Sylvia Brimage over the last mile. Sylvia did well with little running to finish in 16 mins. 4 secs. (24th) just ahead of Mary Caldwell recording 16 mins. 23 secs. in 33rd position the same placing as in the last meeting. Bury & Radcliffe A.C. took second with Airedale and Spen Valley A.C. third.
