Twenty-two Public Schools competed in the race at Manchester on Saturday last over a 3¼ miles course. In spite of bad weather all the schools managed to arrive on time for the race.
The Wallasey Grammar School team were conveyed by motor coach from the School, accompanied by the headmaster (Mr, F. L. Allen) and Mr. G. M. S. Eggleshaw.
The Grammar School were minus one of their best boys, Walker, who, a few days previous to the event, hurt his leg.
A good race followed, the winning school being Barrow-in-Furness. The Wallasey team came in fifth on points, Ronald Loveridge gained seventh place in the race, followed by Sanderson (thirteenth) and Jim Rennie.
The race was well run, especially under such bad weather conditions. Considering that, there were 176 boys taking part the Wallasey School team put up, a good show, Ronald Loveridge made a good fight and ought to do well in future events.
