In the recent Merseyside Olympic Weight-lifting Championships, held in Liverpool, Norman Sadler, of Wallasey Athletic Club, won the light heavy weight class with his best total of 682 lbs. Club weight-lifting captain, Jack McCulloch, gained 2nd place in the heavily contested light-weight class with a total of 532 lbs.
In the R.A.F. cross-country championships over 6 miles, Peter Evans, of Wallasey Athletic Club, who finished third in this season's Liverpool & District junior race, and not the West Lancashire Junior Race as stated last week finished 11th and qualified to represent the R.A.F. in the forthcoming match with the Civil Service.
Wallasey Athletic Club members who are interested in track and field events should note that the club has been granted facilities at the Leasowe Road playing fields between Twenty Row and the brickworks as from May 1st.
Amongst the meetings planned for the coming season the highlight is the Wallasey Youth Olympiad which is being organised by the club on Saturday July 16.
This Saturday, the club junior team travels to Birmingham for the English championships. Meet at Lime Street Station 10-00 a.m.
