The Cheshire Women's A.A.A. cross-country team made the long journey to Romford, Essex, on Saturday to compete in the women's national inter-counties cross-country championships.
Two Wallasey girls led the team into second place Margaret Ashcroft finishing 9th and Barbara Mujumdar (nee Banks) coming 14th. They were well backed up by Shelagh Brown of Congleton (18th) and Tina Wild of Stockport (19th).
Northern teams dominated the event with Lancashire, winning (41 points), followed by Cheshire (60 points) and Yorkshire coming third (82 points) against very strong opposition.
