The long rest between track and cross-country season, broken only by two road relays, has eventually come to an end. The Wallasey Athletic Club men compete in the first
of three league meetings this Saturday at Sherdley Park, St. Helens.
There are races for boys of 11 years old (Colts) and over, right up to races for seniors and veterans (over 40), John Wright, who is always stressing how unfit he is, is one such veteran and should be well in the chase for a high place in the race on Saturday. The women's section of the club is slowly building up its strength and there is a possibility that some of them will also be running this Saturday in a Northern League match.
Would members please note that there will be no training from the Girl Guides Hut until November 22 due to league fixtures and holiday arrangements. Any member or potential member who has been to St. George's School this week and found the school closed should note that we are back to normal as from Monday, November 3.
Congratulations to Bill Aldridge on gaining 85 per cent in the timekeepers' exam he took at Stretford last Sunday.
This is not the first exam that Bill has taken; qualified timekeepers such as he and other officials need to take tests at intervals to ensure that they are still capable and conversant with any rule changes which may affect them.
Any member who wishes to compete on Saturday should get in contact with Doug Hanna immediately for travel arrangements. If any of you are around fireworks on Wednesday, please treat them with respect: I don't want to visit you in hospital.
