Who needs imitations? Wallasey Athletic Club possesses its own wonderwomen and supermen.
Last Saturday's Wirral Schools races went some way to proving this when Wallasey athletes were well to the fore.
Janet McGee had a comfortable victory in the junior girls' race of 1½ miles. Shibohn Power had a comfortable victory in the intermediate and senior girls' race of 2½ miles, with Marie Henry, a comparative new-comer to the club, finishing an equally comfortable second.
The senior boys' races provided us with yet another first, this time by Kevin McGee and Rob Heap.
They ran the complete four-milt course together and opened up an appreciable gap between themselves and their nearest rival of some 500m.
Another runner from the club, who did not finish first but seventh, was James Roberts, who ran in the under-17 boys' race of 3½ miles.
Barbara Jones, will be representing Wirral in the Merseyside Schools in February and, hopefully, qualifying to represent Merseyside at the English Schools' championships in March.
Another event which the club's members ran in last Saturday was the annual Christmas handicap.
It was run over the usual three-mile course with the finishing order as under. Also shown is the actual time to complete the course, the handicap time being deducted.
