Last weekend four members of Wallasey Athletic Club travelled to Dublin to represent Merseyside in a Merseyside v Dublin track and field meeting.
They were Ian Macleod, - Senior boys' 100m. Siobhan Power - Senior ladies' 800m. Marie Henry - Inter ladies' 1500m. Janet McGee - Inter ladies 800m.
All ran well, with Janet McGee finishing 2nd in the 800m and running anchor leg in the 4 x 400m relay, and bringing the team home in first place.
A very enjoyable weekend was provided by the Dublin hosts and Merseyside had the satisfaction of being overall winners.
The same weekend other members of the male section went to Warrington to compete In the Cheshire Track & Field Championships.
Two excellent results were obtained by Neil Tunstall (who improves with every outing) finishing 2nd in the junior men's 400m hurdles in 58.7 secs.
Dave Ashton also finished 2nd in the senior men's 400m hurdles.

Seniors: 400m. Pete Jones. 4th, 53.3 secs.
400m. Dave Ashton. 5th. 53.4 secs.
1500m. Bob Brimage. 5th. 4 26.
Colts: 100m. Alan Peckham. 5th. 15.9 secs.
200m. Alan Peckham. 5th. 32.6 secs.
