The final Cheshire League cross-country meeting was held at Altrincham.
The under-11 girls raced first and Collette Winstanley ran well, finishing 14th. The distance was a bit short for Collette - some 1500 metres.
In the under-13s all four girls finished in the first 20 and the girls, Joanne Johnson, 14th, Leisel Phillips, 17th, Emma Derwent, 19th, and a newcomer to the club, Vicky Duckworth, are all looking forward to the coming track season.
In the under-11 boys, Joanne's younger brother, Paul Johnson, was caught out by a very fast start and again the distance proved to he too short for Paul, who finished 39th.
Paul Bookhouse, running in the colts' race, ran well to finish strongly in 12th. The boys' race was a well fought out battle between Andrew Pennington and Nigel Thompson for the first Wallasey runner home, Andrew just edging Nigel out finishing 16th to Nigel's 17th. Rob Howarth finished 21st, Geoff Nuttall, 32nd.
The senior men's race had a field of 130 starters. First home for Wallasey was Bob Brimage in 23rd, James Downey, who only lost touch with Bob in the last of four laps was 30th. Dave Pendleton was 32nd. Jimmy Ennis had his second race after recovering from a virus infection. He ran well, finishing 46th. Alan Johnson, 56th, Bob Phillips, 63rd,
