Wallasey Athletic Club's veteran men's section, showed their worth on Sunday by finishing 10th in the Northern Counties Veteran Road Relay Championships at Frodsham.
A superb team effort from Jim Kirkby, Ken McCartney, John Wright and Bob Phillips the tatter running the fastest leg bringing the team from 11th to their final position of 10th.
On the Saturday several athletes took part in the Warrington cross-country races. In the senior girls race Lynne Kennedy ran an excellent race by finishing fifth out of a strong field of some 60 runners. Pacing herself well she gradually worked her way up from 10th to fifth on the two lap coarse of three miles. The youths race was a tough fast battle over a four mile course, in which Andy Pennington appeared to be tiring but finished well in 13th place followed shortly by team mates Rob Howarth in 19th and Dave Quinn in 39th place. Paul Johnson had one of his better runs to finish 23rd.
