Merseyside Women's Cross-Country Championships were held at Arrowe Park, Birkenhead.
The senior ladies race showed Wallasey's Lynne Kennedy in good form finishing a good sixth in 22 mins 48 secs. The course used, is also the one to be used for the National Women's Championships next year, and is one which although it is parkland, can be very hard to run depending on wind and rain.
Sue Knight better known for her marathon running finished a creditable 17th in 25 mins 46 secs.
The under 13 race fielded a complete Wallasey team, and finished well up in the field of approximately 188 runners.
First Wallasey competitor was Joanne Johnson in 17th place, followed by Colette Winstanley in 21st place, Emma Derwent 30th place, and finally Vicky Duckworth in 36th place. All the girls must be congratulated for a run which should bring them into a good
position when the National Championships are held next year.
In the junior ladies under 15 newcomer Annette McGinn finished 8th from a field of 60 runners in 13 mins 30 secs. This was an excellent first time championship run.
