The first round of the Northern Track and Field League saw a below strength Wallasey team do its promotion prospects little good as they finished in fourth place.
There were some good individual performances, most notably Alan Johnson's win in the 400m. Hurdles, in which he recorded a personal best of 63.3 seconds
In the 3000m steeplechase, Bob Brimage ran well to gain second place, having led for most of the way. Bob later went on to win the 'B' hammer event. In the 800m events Dave Pendleton ran 2.06.0 for fifth place in the 'A' race, while James Downey recorded 2.05.03 for first place in the 'B' event.
Other good track performances recently have been a 1.59.03 800m clocking by Keith Simpson and a4:16 1500m by Dave Walton, both personal bests.
In the Pearl Assurance Half Marathon, Marie Burke ran well to take sixth place in a very strong field. Her time was a personal best of 1 hour 25 minutes, with Marie also improving her 10-mile personal best en route.
In the Wirral Seaside Road Race on May 18th, James Downey finished third and Stan Williams fourth recording times of 16.49 and 16:53 respectively for the 5km course.
