Wallasey Athletic Club travelled to Stretford for their final Northern League match of the season. The club finished sixth on the day and sixth in their division at the end of the season.
Despite being short of some of their best athletes, the team gave a creditable performance. Notably, Dave Pendleton participated in a total of 10 events, including personal bests in the discus, triple jump and javelin.
Other noteworthy performances came from Keith Simpson and Phil Smith. Keith tried the hammer and 3,000m steeplechase for the first time, as well as his usual events, the 400m hurdles, triple jump and sprint relays. Phil took part in the 100m, 200m and high jump, then attempted the 110m hurdles for the first time.
Robin Jones gained third place in the 5,000m with a time of 15 minutes 45 seconds. Personal bests were gained by James Downey in the 400m (57.2 seconds) and Nick Burke in the 1,500m (4 minutes 32 seconds).
