This year's Wallasey Schools Cross-Country races, organised by Wallasey Athletic Club, attracted 70 young runners. The proposed races this year were for under 14s, under 16s, and over 16-year-olds, to be run in the form of relays.
Unfortunately disappointing entries forced the organisers to cancel two of the races.
The under-14 race of four by one mile laps was won by Oldershaw Grammar School, with three of the fastest runners.
Second were Wallasey Technical Grammar School. Fastest lap was by Davies (Oldershaw GS), while St. Thomas Beckett School took the first 'B' team award in seventh place.
Today Wallasey AC will be organising the Wallasey School Girls' Cross-Country races, again utilising the sand-hills to make the course a little tougher.
