Today sees the holding of the Northern Championships at Blackpool and with Wallasey being unable to muster their strongest teams main interest will be centred on the performance of their top runner John Wright.
Although Wright can be confidently expected to be the first Merseyside runner home he will nevertheless have severe opposition for a place in the top ten positions as Lancashire have already this season won the inter-counties' team championship when they had their first seven runners in the first thirty positions.
There should be a keen fight for the individual race, but Blackpool international, Gerry North, is likely to add this title to his many honours with club mate Brian Craig and the North East's Hillen and Anderson providing the main opposition.
It will also be interesting to see if local runner John Clinch of Port Sunlight A.C. can triumph in the Youth's race as he has been winning all his area races very comfortably.
The Wallasey team and supporters will be travelling by coach leaving St. Alban's Road, Liscard at 10.30 a.m. and calling at Birkenhead, Hamilton Square at 10.45 a.m.
