Elected as officials of Wallasey Athletic Club at its annual meeting were: President, C. R. Hewson; chairman. J. Edwards; general secretary, J. Wright; treasurer, J. Peydderch; assistant general secretary, A. C. Parry; club captain, B. Woolford; ladies' captain, Miss B. Banks; club coach, C. W. Gee.
Of the seven Wallasey athletes entered, only four were able to turn out for the 4th annual Chris Vose Road Race, which started in good conditions, ran into a thunderstorm with very heavy rain, and finished in fine weather. Ron Barlow put up a fine performance to finish third overall, behind Ron Hill and M. Freary of Bolton United Harriers. Hill set a new course record of 31 mins. 28 secs.
John Wright was second Wallasey man in 39th position, with David Field 93rd and Mark Aldridge 125th.
TODAY'S TWO TEAMS IN SEFTON PARK RELAY
Today, Wallasey have two teams of 6 men each entered in the Sefton Park Road Relay - First, team, Ron Barlow, John Wright, John Young, Brian Woolford, David Field and John Hughes; the second team. Kevin Mather, Brian Chalton, Mark Aldridge, Roy Parry, Nigel Thomson and Mike Teehan, with Carl Gee, Tony Parry and Ted Ballard standing in as reserves. Last year Wallasey's first team managed to win this race with three of Wallasey's men clocking 2nd, 3rd and 4th fastest times.
