Cross-country clubs are convinced that the coming season, which opens on Saturday, will be a record one.
Not only did the Olympic Games give athletes a boost, but the shortage of football grounds has caused more young folk to "have a go" at cross-country running. On Saturday the Liverpool Cross-Country Union hold their opening run the time honoured "Monstre Meet" at Court Hey, Broadgreen the headquarters of Pembroke Harriers. The following clubs take part in a canter of about five miles; Boundary, Wirral, Pembroke, Waterloo, Liverpool Harriers, Wallasey, Sefton, Crawfords and Dunlops. A record pack is expected to turn out.
