The West Lancashire Cross-Country Association's annual championships were decided in ideal weather at the Makerfield Harriers' enclosure, Newton-le-Willows, on Saturday.
There was a total entry of 400 runners, representing 41 clubs, and the three events were run off to schedule time. Sutton Harriers, the St. Helens and District champions, retained the senior team and individual titles, but lost the junior championship to Makerfield, while Wallasey H and A.C. gained the youths' individual and team honours. Arthur Williams (Sutton H.), the Welsh international, throughout to win the senior race from two English internationals in Sam Dodd (Wirral A.C.) and Norman Jones (Pembroke A.C.). P. Rowley led Makerfield home in the junior event, and T. G. Downs was first home in the youths' race. Leading results:
