The road handicap held by Wallasey A.C. last Saturday proved quite successful, though the non-participation of several members was disappointing.
The performance of the day came from Kevin Mather who "ran like a bomb" to finish second in the race proper to Pete White, and 1st in the handicap by a substantial margin.
The club's running as a whole impressed greatly and gives plenty of hope for today's event at Sefton Park, where all the top local teams will be competing in the 8x 3¼-mile Sefton Road relay.
The club's team has been selected and members, along with any spectators, should meet at 1.15 at the Pier Head bookstall.
Boys and youths should meet at Park Station, Birkenhead, at 1.45, and will travel to the Gym near the swimming pool in Port Sunlight Village for a relay trial.
