Today, there will be an Open Handicap meeting at Widnes and the Wallasey Athletic Club are represented in this event by three junior athletes.
On August Rank Holiday Monday there is a big athletics meeting at the Roodee, the main attraction being the 5-mile race round the Roodee. In this race there is also an unofficial team race between Wallasey and Southport.
As it is nearing the end of the track season and we shall soon be starting cross-country running we should lie pleased to see as many club members down as possible. This coming season, is already expected to be our best. The club have a young team but a very experienced one. There are two county representatives in J. N. Wright and P. B. White, (also holder of the Southern Command Championship). There are R. W. Barlow, the reigning Cheshire Youth champion, John Lynch, the long distance star, and V. Bayliss, I. D. McIvor, D. B. White and A. W. Townsend and P. H. Townsend.
If any person is interested in athletics in any sphere, active or otherwise, they should contact; Mr. R. F. Hubbard, 44. Tollemache St., New Brighton. Phone: New Brighton 2389.
