One of Wallasey's leading middle-distance runners, Eric Maddock, has proved his worth on numerous occasions when running for either the Wallasey Athletic Club or the County. His success in this sphere originated in 1950, when he captained Wallasey's Youth team in their Cheshire Cross-Country victory and later was selected to represent the county in the same event.
Since then he has won the N.W. area Sea Cadet Cross-Country Championships in 1952 and was the 'General Electric' half mile and three mile champion in 1951-2-3. Eric was also the club's senior 1, 3, and 6 miles champion in 1953 and is now in training for this year's track championships, (due to begin next week) when he hopes to improve upon his past performances.
The Wallasey Athletic Club is open to anyone interested in Athletics, and prospective members should contact E. J. Bollard, 97, Pasture Rd., Moreton, or C. W. Gee, 78, King St., Wallasey, either of which will welcome inquiries.
