Last Saturday Len Platt of Wallasey A.C. was in the Northern Counties team opposing Eire at Chesterfield, and duly won his long jump event.
Platt had only two jumps owing to a strained ankle, but his best leap of 22-ft. 0½in. proved sufficient both to win and also break the ground record set up by Olympic man Harry Whittle.
Len also competed in the 100 yards open scratch race and was placed third in a desperate race which was won by inches.
His injury is not serious and is not likely to prevent his taking part in the A.A.A. championships at White City next Saturday, which are of course, the main event of the track season.
At the Liverpool Police Sports the only Wallasey success was by Matt Smith, who took second place in the pole vault, but Roy Parry was shaping very promisingly in the junior half mile when he was accidentally tripped.

Applications for membership to Wallasey A.C. should be sent to the general secretary, Mr. Carl Gee, 78 King Street, or for the women's section to Miss Jean Massey, 200 Seaview Road.
