Wallasey athletic club's road handicap race was held last Saturday over a 3½ mile course from the club headquarters on Leasowe Road.
The race was won by Bob Johnston running from scratch in a time of 23 minutes with John Winrow 2nd (handicap allowance 1 minute 25 secs.) and Hugh Pritchard 3rd (handicap 1 minute 50 seconds). The fact that the first seven runners home all finished inside eighteen seconds shows sound judgment on the part of the handicapper.
This Saturday the club is competing in the Sefton Park marathon road relay. The team will be selected from the following: J. Edwards, R. Johnston, E. C. Foster, A. Clarke, A. Dinsdale, H. Parkinson, E. G. Maddock, K. Ledward, W. J. Johnston and John Winrow. Those selected and any supporters who wish to travel meet at the Pier Head bookstall at 1.30 p.m.
Congratulations to Len Platt on being invited to represent the Amateur Athletic Association in one or more matches during the coming track season.
