Today members of Wallasey A.C. will compete in friendly rivalry with teams from other Liverpool & District clubs in the Liverpool & District Cross-Country Union championships to be held at the headquarters of Wirral A.C., Holm Lane, Prenton, Birkenhead, commencing at 2.15 p.m.
Four championships have to be decided, and Wallasey is represented by a team in each. In the boys' championship Wallasey's team will be making its initial appearance.
The youth team has been seriously weakened by the withdrawal of its two outstanding runners, Don Anderson and Roy Parry, both as a result of injuries, but other members of the team will run well.
The junior team should be well to the fore without being outstanding.
In the senior event, it is probable that captain John Edwards will be leading the strongest post-war team that Wallasey has had, and whilst the opposition is particularly keen, both Johnston and McFarland should be near the front at the finish, and the team has an outside chance of a place.
Teams and spectators meet at Liscard Village or Moreton Cross at 1.30 p.m. as per instructions circulated.
