Wallasey Athletic Club stalwart, 42-year-old Carl Gee, has been nominated as Wallasey's Sports Personality for 1971, for his outstanding performances in the veteran class of athletics.
Last year Carl won the British Veterans' long jump at Derby and was runner-up in the javelin. He also won the Northern veteran discus, shot, javelin, long jump and high jump, and was runner-up in the 100, 200 and 400 metres races.
For many years Carl has been an outstanding coach in field and track events with the highest qualifications.
Carl has now turned to sport as a full-time occupation. being a sports organiser at the Skelmersdale New Town Sports Hall, though he continues to live in Wallasey,
Carl will receive the Marples Trophy during the forthcoming Wallasey Festival of Sport.
