Arnold Dinsdale, Three Mile Champion of Wallasey Athletic Club, ran second to Northern Counties Champion, Walter Hesketh in the Territorial Army Three Mile Championship at Aldershot on Saturday, 9th June. His time was 15 minutes 33 seconds, one minute behind the winner.
At the Birkenhead and Wirral Meeting at Upton last Saturday afternoon, Ted Bollard of W.A.C. took third place in the pole vault, and B. W. G. Bird gained his first success in open competition with a second place in the schoolboys' 100 Yards, while Ken Ledward and Bob Fullerton reached the final of the Junior 880 yards. Matt Smith is approaching his best form at the high jump, reaching 5ft. 7ins. at Upton, although his low handicap denied him a place.
This afternoon, Smith, together with Len Platt and Tunde Lawrence, (jumps), and Ray Owen (discus), is competing in the Northern Counties Senior Championships at Fallowfield, Manchester.
