The success of Wallasey athletes in last Saturday's Cheshire track and field championships is a credit to them.
Between the 10 of them they brought home seven medals and nine personal best performances.
The hard work behind them throughout last winter is starting to show itself in their performances. Unlike most other sports, athletics is an all-the-year sport.
We have no permanent headquarters, thanks to the vandalism in Leasowe, so our members find themselves travelling a great deal between St. Georges Middle School, Leasowe Road and Woodchurch Community Centre track, Birkenhead. This is the nearest well maintained track which offers full facilities and equipment.
To single any athlete out is a difficult task as all deserve mention, but Tim Guest, with his three silver medals and two personal best performances, and Neil Tunstall, with his gold medal and personal best performance, are two whose success story is backed by months of hard work.
Both acknowledge this and the fact that they still have a long way to go and many more months of hard work.
If you are 12 or over and not afraid of hard work, 12 months a year, then come and join us. You will be made welcome.
