The Liverpool & District Cross-Country Union's 20 miles road relay race around Sefton Park was declared void after all the teams had finished the course and the race is now provisionally rearranged for next March.
It appears that owing to poor marking of the course many of the runners took a wrong turn, detected only through some amazingly fast time being recorded for the distance of 2½ miles and in the confusion which later occurred the judges were unanimous in coming to the above decision.
It was a disappointment for the abnormal number of people who came to watch the race, but for the Wallasey A.C. it certainly helped them out of a tight corner, as five (including Edwards, the club's best runner) of the originally selected team of eight, were unable to run, and the substitutes were faced with a task, which was perhaps a little too much for them.
The Club run from Leasowe-road was well supported, with Broster showing a return to form, and C. F. Peers, a new comer, running soundly.
To-day Wallasey Athletic Club travel to Gateacre to run against Liverpool H. & A.C., members meet Liverpool Landing Stage at 2-30 p.m. A run will be held at Leasowe road for the youths' team and those not wishing or unable to go to Gateacre.
