Wallasey A.C. won their last interclub fixture of the season when they defeated a strong Sefton team by the narrow margin of three points over a 7¼ miles course on Saturday.
This victory must rank as the club's best performance of the season, particularly in view of the fact that they were without the services of T. B. Calveley, their leading runner.
The visitors had the satisfaction of placing the first two men home, R. Mount and F. Rogers, but only after a great struggle with the Wallasey captain, W. R. Richardson, who has now regained some of his old form.
Some distance behind the first three B. Morgan headed the main Wallasey pack, K. Baird, L. Bell and F. G. Ambrose, giving the home team five men in the first seven. Sefton A.C. made a close thing of the race when they packed the next five men, thus finishing their counting six in the first 11, while Wallasey had to wait until the 13th place for their last counting man. J. Davies, who filled this position, ran a splendid race, however, improving considerably on all his previous performances.
Results as follows:-
Wallasey A.C. - W. R. Richardson, 3rd; B. Morgan, 4th; L. Bell, 5th; K. Baird, 6th; F. G. Ambrose, 7th; J. Davies, 13th. Total, 38 points.
Sefton A.C. - R. Mount, 1st; F. Rodgers, 2nd; A. Hill, 8th; F. Newbury, 9th; C. Harding, 10th; L. Nelson, 11th. Total, 41 points.
There will be a training run this afternoon from Leasowe-road headquarters. Arrive in time for a 3-30 p.m. start.
Prospective new members may obtain information re the club's activities from the hon. secretary, Mr. R. G. Hyde, 14 Cromer-drive.
