Over two hundred runners supported the opening inter-club run of the season from the headquarters of Waterloo Harriers last Saturday.
An easy-paced run opened the proceedings, and five miles of country were covered, occasional halts being made in order to keep the pack well together. This year no difference was made in the course
taken, seniors and novices alike completing the full distance.
One mile from ''home" the pack lined up for the "mile break," and again departing from custom, the seniors were first away. Wallasey were but poorly represented in the "senior" and out of the 120 competitors, contributed only two. Both, however, were well to the fore, W. R. Richardson finishing 10th and F. G. Ambrose 14th.
In the "Novice Mile'' the club had the distinction of placing five of its eight representatives in the first dozen. Of these, K. Baird was 6th. N. Marples 7th, L. Hughes 8th. and J. Davis 10th.
Eleven members attended the club run held the same afternoon from Leasowe-road headquarters. The usual seven miles course was followed, but no hard racing was indulged in and the pack kept together until Leasowe-road was reached. W. G. Williams was first man home with W. A. Geddes 2nd, J. A. Richardson 3rd, and F. Yeoman 4th.
To-day, Wallasey A.C. visit Aintree for a match with Liverpool Boundary H. over a five mile course. Meet at Exchange station 2-30 p.m.
Prospective members can obtain information re the club's activities from the hon. secretary, Mr. R. G. Hyde, 14 Cromer-drive, Wallasey.
