This club is holding a sports meeting at Central Park, Liscard, on Thursday evening, 31st instant, in connection with the postponed Firework Display of the Wallasey Gala Committee.
Mr. J. W. Thwaite (who is a member of the Wallasey branch), the winner of the 200 metre race against France at Stamford Bridge, and many other noted runners, will definitely appear.
The interest of the young men of Wallasey is asked for, not only as spectators of these sports, but also to take part in the coming cross-country season, which is one of the finest sports of the season and a splendid health giver.
In 1914 Wallasey won the Liverpool & District Cross-Country Championship with six men in the first seven to finish the race. The Wallasey Harriers & Athletic Club is now a branch of this club, with splendid winter headquarters at the cricket pavilion, Harrison Park. The season commences in October next, and this appeal is to anyone would care to turn out with this branch on Saturday afternoons. Full information can be obtained from the hon. Secretary. Mr. S. G. Edgar, 68 Little-dale Road, Egremont.
