The club were rather poorly represented, numerically that is, on Saturday last in the West Lancashire Cross-Country Association novice team race, held at St. Helens.
A big "field" of about 120 runners faced the starter, in dull, miserable weather.
They were composed of teams of six, and sported the colours of every club attached to the Association. Right from the word "Go!" T. N. Etheridge, of Wallasey, took the lead and maintained it to the end over a distinctly heavy course of ploughed land and slippery tracks, about five miles in all. He finished all out with, roughly, forty yards to spare from the second man.
This makes Etheridge's third win this season.
To-day (the 20th) the club are holding their Christmas Handicap from Thorndale Farm at 3.30, and as from time-honoured custom every competitor completing the course receives a prize, a record turn-out. is expected.
Members must be ready to face the starter prompt at the time stated, viz., 3.30.
