The above club held their first run of the season last Saturday, when despite the fact that it is rather early for cross-country running a good pack faced the camera fiend prior to a seven mile run.
The men were under the control of the captain, A. G. Nicholson, who set a nice easy pace in the direction of Bidston and Moreton and back via Leasowe. There was plenty of fun en route, black-berrying being freely indulged in, and the prince of late comers, (no name necessary) had a hearty cheer when he jumped the "Birket."
Nearly all last year's members have intimated their intention of again joining this year, and several new members have also joined.
The club has been extremely fortunate in securing as patrons the following gentlemen:- Mr. Sidney S. Dawson, Mr. J. W. Holdsworth, and Mr. T. Raffles-Bulley, while it is anticipated that several other members of the Council will also give their support.
To-day there is an ordinary club run from headquarters (Fairhaven Institute, Seaview-road) at 3.30 p.m. Next Saturday the club will participate in the monstre meet of the Liverpool & District Cross-country Association at Wavertree from the Lamb Hotel. All members are requested to make a special effort to attend the latter run.
