Last Saturday the above Club held a run to Upton via Bidston, and back via Moreton and Leasowe, a total distance of about nine or ten miles.
There was a fairly large pack out under the control of the captain, A. G. Nicholson, and whipped-in by the secretary (H. R. Scoins). Nothing startling happened on route, although just to create a "splash" C. H. Spence managed to jump in the Birket instead of over. This was not enough for Jack Jones and he tried to give the secretary another ducking (as if he did not have enough two weeks back). No racing was indulged in, but "Dorando" had to be held back once or twice, as he seemed rather inclined to increase the pace. Perhaps the handicappers will make a note of this.
To-day the club entertain Ravenhead and Gordon Harriers at headquarters. Next week there will be a run from the Eagle & Crown Hotel, Upton. After the run tea will be served and a sing song will terminate the proceedings.
The first whist drive and dance is to be held on Thursday the 3rd November at the Grosvenor Assembly Rooms. Tickets 2s. each, may be obtained from the Keeper, Fairhaven Institute, Seaview-road, Liscard, or any member of the club.
