The above club held their second evening meeting on the Tower Track last Wednesday night.
The events were half mile and 220 yards, a good number of entries being received tor each event. The 220 yards (F. L. Thornton scratch) was won by C. H. Spence (12 yards) in 25 3-5sec., W. A. Jeffery (14 yards) being a very close second. Both these runners ran a very fine race. C. Hunter (8 yards) in finishing third did not seem to be running on quite his usual form.
The half-mile (A. G. Nicholson scratch) was also easily won by C. H. Spence (16 yards) who ran a well-judged race, being followed to the tape by R. G. Lowes (35 yards) and W. A. Jeffrey, who might have been differently placed if he had made his final effort slightly earlier.
These meetings are being thoroughly enjoyed by the members, besides being of much use for training purposes.
Members of other clubs would be made heartily welcome as second claim members, and as such would be eligible for these races, the next of which is to be held on July 12th. All such and any men who wish to join as first claim members are asked to communicate with the hon. secretary, Peter Scott, 103, Manor-road, Liscard.
