A general meeting of the above club was held at the Fairhaven Institute on Wednesday evening last, Mr. F. C. O'Connell being prevented at the last minute from taking the chair, his place was occupied by Mr. A. G. Nicholson.
The following officers were elected: Captain, Mr. A. G. Nicholson; sub-captain, Mr. C. H. Spence; hon, treasurer, Mr. A. G. Scoins; hon. secretary, Mr. Peter Scott, 103, Manor-road, Liscard; auditors, Messrs. R. Young and F. L. Thornton; handicappers, Messrs. Nicholson and Spence, and a committee of eight. The balance sheet was presented and passed, showing a balance (including stock of £3) of over £8.
The hon. secretary read his report showing what a successful season the club had had, the culmination being the winning of the Liverpool & District Junior Championship. It was pointed out that the Wallasey A.C. is now one of the strongest clubs in the West Lancashire Cross-Country Association, and it is expected to figure very prominently in their championships and also run in those of the Northern C.C.A.
He also paid a tribute to the enthusiastic way in which the late secretary had worked for the club, and expressed his regret that he and the late sub-captain should have thought it necessary to secede to the N.A.U.
This feeling was heartily endorsed by the meeting.
It was decided to continue to hold the whist drives, which were such a success last year. New members are coming in rapidly, already more than equalling the number of resignations from last year.
The first run will be held next Saturday from the new headquarters, the Ship Inn, Breck-road. All who would like to run with the club are invited to meet there at 3.30, or communicate with the secretary.
