At an ordinary run of the above club on Saturday from headquarters, about thirty runners exhibited their paces.
Captain C. H. Spence showed the way over the Marshes, where fast and slow packs were formed. The "fast" pack (save the mark) evidently had a touch of sleeping sickness, and had all their work cut out to catch the "slows," who ran really well. A halt was made on the banks of the Birket to enable a few of the "lads" to take their annual bath! Refreshed by the unique experience, several members evinced a desire to race home, so the last two miles were rather warm. In the final "dust up" several youngsters shone well. Perhaps a word of advice to the new members would not be out of place, several having been seen training o'nights on the public highway. They would do well to take "Punch's" advice to those about to marry - "Don't!'' Quite time enough to start serious training at Christmas.
To-day (Saturday) the club proceed to Upton to run from the Eagle & Crown Hotel; 3-25 train from Seacombe. Now, boys, turn out in your hundreds, and see if you can't "set the village on fire."
